Tim Duffy, America’s Leadership Coach, is an award winning international motivational speaker whose focus is communication, conflict management, and leadership. Since making history as the youngest Student Governement President to ever serve at his college, Tim has spent almost a decade inspiring students to develop their leadership skills by sharing his knowlege with a uniquely energetic and fun interactive style.
Tim works for The National Society of Leadership and Success, an organization dedicated to making lasting positive change in people’s lives. He serves as the Program Coordinator and host for the live broadcasts, interviewing celebrity speakers and authors from around the world.
Tim is currently writing two books on leadership including “A Leadership Fable and “Revelations of a Leader”.
Tim credits his grandfather and his college experience as providing the foundation for his leadership skills and experience. His grandfather, who passed away in 2007, has served as his role model who Tim references many times in his speeches. In Queens College, Tim took advantage of every opportunity by attending leadership retreats and seminars including Queens College Leadership Retreat and City University of New York Leadership Summit. He led several university clubs and organizations and quickly became recognized as one of the most active student leaders on campus. However, Tim’s transformation as student leader can be traced to three specific organizations, which included: The New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), United People (UP), and The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS).
As a freshman, Tim became a member of NYPIRG, New York State’s largest research and advocacy non-profit organization primarily focused on environmental preservation, consumer protection, government reform and public health issues. Tim was fortunate to have experts in the field teach him the skills of grassroots organizing. He was trained to recruit, mobilize, and engage students on campus. Tim would eventually become a member of the Board of Directors and lead several campaigns including cleaning up toxic waste sites in Queens, lobby for higher education, and oppose cuts for mass transit.
Tim was later recruited by UP, a Queens College political party. Since its inception in 1973, UP has managed to survive and remain in political power for almost 4 decades and continues till this day because of its extensive leadership training program and campaign tactics. Many of the prominent individuals in the New York State Legislature, powerful lobbyist, and political strategist have emerged from UP. Party members were so astonished by Tim’s accomplishments as a campus leader that they decided to choose him, an outsider and non-member of the political party at the time, as the candidate to run for student government president. UP recruited and trained Tim to successfully become one of the youngest student government presidents to ever serve in Queens College. Tim would eventually achieve numerous accomplishments including expanding free hour for students and faculty, exposing a mismanaged food service, creating a summer student government training retreat, co-creating a CUNY wide voter registration campaign, and creating the most powerful Queens College student government by unifying the five separate student government bodies into one. Tim later received numerous awards for his accomplishments.
Tim was introduced to Gary Tuerack, an award winning international motivational speaker and author, delivering a speech at Queens College. Gary introduced Tim to organization he was creating called NSLS. Recognizing his talent and ability, Gary recruited Tim to start a local Chapter of the organization on campus. Gary, and the NSLS, exposed Tim to vast array of literature on success and leadership. Gary has since served as Tim’s advisor and mentor.
After graduating with a B.S. in Environmental Science Geology, Tim continued with his career goals by working with the Environmental Protection Agency within the division of Performance Track, a volunteer based initiative to get companies and government entities to increase energy efficiency and reduce pollution.
Tim then entered into politics to work for a local councilman in his hometown to make a difference in the community. After working for over a year, Tim then decided to pursue his career and life’s mission as a motivational speaker and leadership coach to work for NSLS. Tim served as the Traveling Leadership Consultant for NSLS delivering leadership presentations internationally and training student leaders. He now serves as the Program Coordinator and host for NSLS Live Speaker Broadcast where he interviews nationally renowned speakers and authors.
